Leadership Lesson: The biggest leadership lesson that I have learned over these past months is the ability to realize when you need to encourage others to take initiative and giving credit to those who do not often receive it. As an extrovert, I am usually very passionate and will quickly step up when there is a task at hand. Understanding that leaders also have to realize when they need to step back and let others shine is something that Delta has allowed me to learn. Additionally, Delta has taught me to give credit when due especially to those who usually fly under the radar.

Leadership lesson: For two years, I was in my sorority’s philanthropy committee as the alumnae and family relations chair and then website chair. By working with my peers and friends to manage events and new initiatives, I learned about my personal leadership styles. It takes practice to work out your strengths and through your weaknesses, so being surrounded by a team is crucial.

Courtney says: Running track and cross country in high school taught me the importance of diligence and goal setting, as well as how to handle pressure and nerves. As a captain of both the cross country and track team, I learned a lot about leadership and setting a good example. Running was also an easy way to stay in shape…and I made a great group of friends along the way too.
