It’s National Girls & Women in Sports Day, which means it’s time to drag out cute, awkward, or awesome moments of females playing sports.
Marie says: I was a softball player and cheerleader all through my high school years. It was a strange combination compared to most of my friends, but I enjoyed both immensely and never desired to pick one over the other. When I was with my softball team, I was perceived as quite bubbly and girly, while my fellow cheerleaders were more likely to notice that I had a tomboy streak. The stereotypes and alternate characteristics may have messed with me as I went through those tumultuous adolescent years of identity searching, but I truly loved getting to explore, express and embrace all the sides of being a young woman in high school.
